България е на последно място в Европа по дял на ваксинирани срещу Covid-19. И докато председателят на ЕК Урсула фон дер Лайен се хвали, че 70% от пълнолетното население в ЕС вече е ваксинирано срещу коронавируса (основно заради високите резултати на западните държави), то страната ни продължава да седи на дъното на класацията с едва 20% ваксинирани.
У нас завършен ваксинационен цикъл имат под 1,3 млн. души. От доставените и платени 5.14 млн. дози ваксини 2.85 млн. не са използвани, а правителството вече започна да дарява и продава част от онези ваксини, чиито срок на годност първи започва да изтича.

На фона на тази ситуация евродепутатът Радан Кънев призова Европа да се намеси заради провала на ваксинационната кампания. Според него това заплашва здравето на гражданите на страната, както и на останалите извън нейните граници.
„Второ правителство и трети парламент в България се провалят в организацията на ваксинационна кампания, в пресичането на антинаучната пропаганда… В провеждането на политики, които да насърчат ваксинацията и да защитят гражданите. Провалят се, защото политическата криза и постоянната предизборна кампания ги превръщат в заложници на страхлив популизъм“, каза евродепутатът от ЕНП/ „Демократична България“.
По думите му жертви на този провал не са политиците, а възрастните, болните. „Жертва е малкият и семейният бизнес, самонаетите лица - тези, които са се ваксинирали, за да защитят другите, но днес им затварят бизнеса. Жертви са децата, пак заплашени от дистанционно обучение. Така че отговорът е, че правомощията на Европа стигат дотам, докъдето е нужно, ако националните правителства се провалят да защитят нашите граждани“, каза още Радан Кънев.
Думите на евродепутата бяха наречени „боклук“ от зам.-председателя на „Има такъв народ“ Тошко Йорданов.
Колегата му в парламента проф. Атанас Чорбанов пък определи казаното от Кънев като „зловещо“.
„Искането на Радан Кънев е зловещо. Идеята някакъв тип дисциплиниране на нацията от страна на ЕС ми звучи зловещо. Ние сме доброволна членка в ЕС и не бива да се прокрадват такива идеи”, посочи Чорбанов.
В 46-ия парламент групата на „Има такъв народ“ внесоха промени в Закона за здравето, в който да е записано, че имунизацията срещу COVID-19 е препоръчителна и има изцяло доброволен характер. Предложенията им така и не стигнаха до обсъждане в пленарна зала, тъй като Народното събрание беше разпуснато.
